- 1 Meine Seele ist meines Lebens überdrüssig; ich will meiner Klage in mir freien Lauf lassen, will reden in der Bitterkeit meiner Seele.
- 2 Ich will zu Gott sagen: Verdamme mich nicht! laß mich wissen, worüber du mit mir rechtest.
- 3 Gefällt es dir, daß du bedrückst, daß du die Arbeit deiner Hände verwirfst und über den Rat der Gesetzlosen dein Licht leuchten lässest?
- 4 Hast du Augen des Fleisches, oder siehst du, wie ein Mensch sieht?
- 5 Sind deine Tage wie die Tage eines Menschen, oder deine Jahre wie die Tage eines Mannes,
- 6 daß du nach meiner Ungerechtigkeit suchst und nach meiner Sünde forschest,
- 7 obwohl du weißt, daß ich nicht schuldig bin, und daß niemand ist, der aus deiner Hand errette?
- 8 Deine Hände haben mich ganz gebildet und gestaltet um und um, und du verschlingst mich!
- 9 Gedenke doch, daß du wie Ton mich gestaltet-und zum Staube willst du mich zurückkehren lassen!
- 10 Hast du mich nicht hingegossen wie Milch, und wie Käse mich gerinnen lassen?
- 11 Mit Haut und Fleisch hast du mich bekleidet, und mit Knochen und Sehnen mich durchflochten.
- 12 Leben und Huld hast du mir gewährt, und deine Obhut bewahrte meinen Geist.
- 13 Doch solches bargest du in deinem Herzen; ich weiß, daß dieses bei dir war:
- 14 Wenn ich sündigte, so würdest du mich beobachten, und von meiner Missetat mich nicht freisprechen.
- 15 Wenn ich schuldig wäre, wehe mir! und wäre ich gerecht, so dürfte ich mein Haupt nicht erheben, gesättigt von Schande und mein Elend schauend.
- 16 Und richtete es sich empor, wie ein Löwe würdest du mich jagen, und immer wieder deine Wunderkraft an mir erweisen.
- 17 Du würdest deine Zeugen mir gegenüber erneuern und deinen Zorn wider mich mehren, stets frische Scharen und ein Heer wider mich entbieten.
- 18 Warum hast du mich doch aus Mutterleibe hervorgehen lassen? Ich hätte verscheiden, und kein Auge hätte mich sehen sollen!
- 19 Als ob ich nicht gewesen wäre, so hätte ich sein sollen, vom Mutterschoße zu Grabe getragen!
- 20 Sind meiner Tage nicht wenige? Er lasse ab, wende sich von mir, daß ich ein wenig mich erheitere,
- 21 ehe ich hingehe in das Land der Finsternis und des Todesschattens,
- 22 in das Land, düster wie das Dunkel, das Land des Todesschattens und der Unordnung, und wo das Hellwerden dem Dunkel gleich ist!
