2 Samuele 17
- 1 Poi Ahitofel disse ad Absalom: "Lasciami scegliere dodicimila uomini; e partirò e inseguirò Davide questa notte stessa;
- 2 e gli piomberò addosso mentr’egli è stanco ed ha le braccia fiacche; lo spaventerò, e tutta la gente ch’è con lui si darà alla fuga; io colpirò il re solo,
- 3 e ricondurrò a te tutto il popolo; l’uomo che tu cerchi vale quanto il ritorno di tutti; e così tutto il popolo sarà in pace".
- 4 Questo parlare piacque ad Absalom e a tutti gli anziani d’Israele.
- 5 Nondimeno Absalom disse: "Chiamate ancora Hushai, l’Arkita, e sentiamo quel che anch’egli dirà".
- 6 E quando Hushai fu venuto da Absalom, questi gli disse: "Ahitofel ha parlato così e così; dobbiam noi fare come ha detto lui? Se no, parla tu!"
- 7 Hushai rispose ad Absalom: "Questa volta il consiglio dato da Ahitofel non è buono".
- 8 E Hushai soggiunse: "Tu conosci tuo padre e i suoi uomini, e sai come sono gente valorosa e come hanno l’animo esasperato al par d’un’orsa nella campagna quando le sono stati rapiti i figli; e poi tuo padre è un guerriero, e non passerà la notte col popolo.
- 9 Senza dubbio egli è ora nascosto in qualche buca o in qualche altro luogo; e avverrà che, se fin da principio ne cadranno alcuni de’ tuoi, chiunque lo verrà a sapere dirà: Tra la gente che seguiva Absalom c’è stata una strage.
- 10 Allora il più valoroso, anche se avesse un cuor di leone, si avvilirà, perché tutto Israele sa che tuo padre è un prode, e che quelli che ha seco son dei valorosi.
- 11 Perciò io consiglio che tutto Israele da Dan fino a Beer-Sheba, si raduni presso di te, numeroso come la rena ch’è sul lido del mare, e che tu vada in persona alla battaglia.
- 12 Così lo raggiungeranno in qualunque luogo ei si troverà, e gli cadranno addosso come la rugiada cade sul suolo; e di tutti quelli che sono con lui non ne scamperà uno solo.
- 13 E s’egli si ritira in qualche città, tutto Israele cingerà di funi quella città e noi la trascineremo nel torrente in guisa che non se ne trovi più nemmeno una pietruzza".
- 14 Absalom e tutti gli uomini d’Israele dissero: "Il consiglio di Hushai, l’Arkita, è migliore di quello di Ahitofel". L’Eterno avea stabilito di render vano il buon consiglio di Ahitofel, per far cadere la sciagura sopra Absalom.
- 15 Allora Hushai disse ai sacerdoti Tsadok ed Abiathar: "Ahitofel ha consigliato Absalom e gli anziani d’Israele così e così, e io ho consigliato in questo e questo modo.
- 16 Or dunque mandate in fretta ad informare Davide e ditegli: Non passar la notte nelle pianure del deserto, ma senz’altro va oltre, affinché il re con tutta la gente che ha seco non rimanga sopraffatto".
- 17 Or Gionathan e Ahimaats stavano appostati presso En-Roghel; ed essendo la serva andata ad informarli, essi andarono ad informare il re Davide. Poiché essi non potevano entrare in città in modo palese.
- 18 Or un giovinetto li avea scorti, e ne aveva avvisato Absalom; ma i due partirono di corsa e giunsero a Bahurim a casa di un uomo che avea nella sua corte una cisterna.
- 19 Quelli vi si calarono; e la donna di casa prese una coperta, la distese sulla bocca della cisterna, e vi sparse su del grano pesto; cosicché nessuno ne seppe nulla.
- 20 I servi di Absalom vennero in casa di quella donna, e chiesero: "Dove sono Ahimaats e Gionathan?" La donna rispose loro: "Hanno passato il ruscello". Quelli si misero a cercarli; e, non potendoli trovare, se ne tornarono a Gerusalemme.
- 21 E come quelli se ne furono andati, i due usciron fuori dalla cisterna, e andarono ad informare il re Davide. Gli dissero: "Levatevi, e affrettatevi a passar l’acqua; perché ecco qual è il consiglio che Ahitofel ha dato a vostro danno".
- 22 Allora Davide si levò con tutta la gente ch’era con lui, e passò il Giordano. All’apparir del giorno, neppur uno era rimasto, che non avesse passato il Giordano.
- 23 Ahitofel, vedendo che il suo consiglio non era stato seguito, sellò il suo asino, e partì per andarsene a casa sua nella sua città. Mise in ordine le cose della sua casa, e s’impiccò. Così morì, e fu sepolto nel sepolcro di suo padre.
- 24 Or Davide giunse a Mahanaim, e Absalom anch’egli passò il Giordano, con tutta la gente d’Israele.
- 25 Absalom avea posto a capo dell’esercito Amasa, invece di Joab. Or Amasa era figliuolo di un uomo chiamato Jithra, l’Ismaelita, il quale aveva avuto relazioni con Abigal, figliuola di Nahash, sorella di Tseruia, madre di Joab.
- 26 E Israele ed Absalom si accamparono nel paese di Galaad.
- 27 Quando Davide fu giunto a Mahanaim, Shobi, figliuolo di Nahash ch’era da Rabba città degli Ammoniti, Makir, figliuolo di Ammiel da Lodebar, e Barzillai, il Galaadita di Roghelim,
- 28 portarono dei letti, dei bacini, de’ vasi di terra, del grano, dell’orzo, della farina, del grano arrostito, delle fave, delle lenticchie, de’ legumi arrostiti,
- 29 del miele, del burro, delle pecore e de’ formaggi di vacca, per Davide e per la gente ch’era con lui, affinché mangiassero; perché dicevano: "Questa gente deve aver patito fame, stanchezza e sete nel deserto".

Basic Hash Usage Explained
At getBible, we've established a robust system to keep our API synchronized with the Crosswire project's modules. Let me explain how this integration works in simple terms.
We source our Bible text directly from the Crosswire modules. To monitor any updates, we generate "hash values" for each chapter, book, and translation. These hash values serve as unique identifiers that change only when the underlying content changes, thereby ensuring a tight integration between getBible and the Crosswire modules.
Every month, an automated process runs for approximately three hours. During this window, we fetch the latest Bible text from the Crosswire modules. Subsequently, we compare the new hash values and the text with the previous ones. Any detected changes trigger updates to both our official getBible hash repository and the Bible API for all affected translations. This system has been operating seamlessly for several years.
Once the updates are complete, any application utilizing our Bible API should monitor the hash values at the chapter, book, or translation level. Spotting a change in these values indicates that they should update their respective systems.
Hash values can change due to various reasons, including textual corrections like adding omitted verses, rectifying spelling errors, or addressing any discrepancies flagged by the publishers maintaining the modules at Crosswire.
The Crosswire initiative, also known as the SWORD Project, is the "source of truth" for getBible. Any modifications in the Crosswire modules get reflected in our API within days, ensuring our users access the most precise and current Bible text. We pledge to uphold this standard as long as getBible exists and our build scripts remain operational.
