- 1 တိဘေးရီဦးဆီဇာဘုရင်၏နန်းသက်တစ် ဆယ့်ငါးနှစ်မြောက်တွင် ဂျုဒပြည်၌ ပုံစီဦးပီလာတုမင်းသည် ဘုရင်ခံဖြစ်၏။ ဟေရုဒ်သည် ဂါလေလေးယပြည်တွင်လည်းကောင်း၊ သူ၏ညီဖိလိပုသည် အီတုရိယနှင့် တြာကိုနစ်တီဒေသတို့တွင် လည်းကောင်း၊ လီစာနိယသည် အာဘီလန်းပြည်တွင်လည်းကောင်း အသီးသီး အုပ်ချုပ်ကြသောဘုရင်ခံများဖြစ်ကြ၏။-
- 2 အန္နားနှင့် ကာအိဖတို့သည်လည်း ရဟန်းအကြီးအကဲများ ဖြစ်နေကြ၏။ ထိုအချိန်တွင် ဘုရားသခင်၏ဗျာဒိတ်တော်သည် တောကန္တာရ၌ရှိနေသော ဇခါရိယ၏သား ယောဟန်ထံသို့ ရောက်လာ၏။-
- 3 ထိုအခါ သူသည် အပြစ်မှခွင့်လွှတ်ခြင်းခံရရန် နောင်တတရားနှင့်ဆိုင်သော ဆေးကြောခြင်းအကြောင်းကို ဂျော်ဒန်မြစ်ဝှမ်း တစ်လျှောက်တွင် ဟောပြောလေ၏။-
- 4 ပရောဖက်အီဇာယ ဟောထားသောကျမ်းချက်တွင် ပါရှိသည့်အတိုင်း တောကန္တာရ၌ ကြွေးကြော်သောသူ၏အသံသည်ကား ထာ၀ရဘုရားသခင်၏ လမ်းကို ပြင်ဆင်ကြလော့။ ကိုယ်တော်၏လမ်းတို့ကို ဖြောင့်တန်းစေကြလော့။-
- 5 ချိုင့်ဝှမ်းရှိသမျှတို့ကို ဖို့ကြရမည်။ တောင်ကြီးတောင်ငယ်ရှိသမျှတို့ကို ဖြိုကြရမည်။ ကွေ့ကောက်သောလမ်းများကို ဖြောင့်တန်းစေကြရမည်။ ကြမ်းတမ်းသောလမ်းများကိုလည်း ညီညာစေရမည်။-
- 6 ထိုအခါ လူအပေါင်းတို့သည် ဘုရားသခင်၏ကယ်တင် ခြင်းကို တွေ့ မြင်ကြရလိမ့်မည်ဟူ၍ဖြစ်သတည်း။
- 7 ထို့ကြောင့် သူသည် မိမိအားဖြင့် ဆေးကြောခြင်းကိုခံယူရန် လာကြသောလူအစုအဝေးတို့အား ဆိုသည်မှာ အချင်း မြွေဆိုးမျိုးတို့၊ ကျရောက်လာမည့် အမျက်တော်မှ တိမ်းရှောင်ရန်အတွက် သင်တို့အား မည်သူသတိပေးသနည်း။-
- 8 နောင်တတရားနှင့် ထိုက်တန်သော အသီးများကို သီးကြလော့။ ငါတို့၌ ငါတို့၏အဖ အာဘရာဟံရှိသည်ဟု သင်တို့ကိုယ် သင်တို့မဆိုကြနှင့်။ အကြောင်းမူကား သင်တို့အား ငါဆိုသည်မှာ ဘုရားသခင်သည် အာဘရာဟံအတွက် သားသမီးများကို ဤကျောက်ခဲများမှ ပေါ်ထွန်းလာစေရန် တတ်နိုင်တော်မူ၏။-
- 9 ယခုတွင်ပင် သစ်ပင်၏အမြစ်နား၌ ပုဆိန်ကိုချိန်ရွယ်ထားလျက် ရှိပြီဖြစ်သောကြောင့် ကောင်းသောအသီးကို မသီးသော အပင်ရှိ သမျှတို့ကို ခုတ်လှဲ၍ မီးထဲသို့ပစ်ချမည်ဟု ဆိုလေ၏။
- 10 လူအစုအဝေးတို့ကလည်း ဤသို့ဖြစ်လျှင် အကျွန်ုပ်တို့သည် မည်သည့်အရာကိုပြုရမည်နည်းဟု သူ့အား မေးကြသော်၊-
- 11 သူက အင်္ကျီနှစ်ထည်ရှိသောသူသည် မရှိသောသူအား တစ်ထည်ပေးစေ။ အစားအစာရှိသောသူသည်လည်း ထိုနည်းတူပြုစေဟု ပြန်ပြောလေ၏။-
- 12 အခွန်ခံသူတို့သည်လည်း ဆေးကြောခြင်းခံအံ့သောငှာ ရောက်လာကြ၍ ဆရာသခင်၊ အကျွန်ုပ်တို့သည် မည်သည့်အရာကို ပြုရပါမည်နည်းဟု သူ့အား မေးကြလျှင်၊-
  After repentance people came to be baptized by John the baptist.
- 13 သူက သင်တို့အား သတ်မှတ်ထားသည်ထက် ပို၍မကောက်ခံကြ နှင့်ဟုဆိုလေ၏။-
- 14 စစ်သူရဲတို့ကလည်း အကျွန်ုပ်တို့သည် မည်သည့်အရာကိုပြုရပါမည်နည်းဟု သူ့အား မေးမြန်းကြသော် သူက သင်တို့သည် အနိုင်အထက်ပြုခြင်းဖြင့် လည်းကောင်း၊ မတရားစွပ်စွဲခြင်းဖြင့်လည်းကောင်း သူတစ်ပါးထံမှ လုယူခြင်းကိုမပြုကြနှင့်။ သင်တို့ရရှိသော လစာဖြင့် ကျေနပ်ကြလော့ဟု ပြန်ဖြေလေ၏။
- 15 လူတို့သည်ကား မျှော်လင့်တကြီးစောင့်စားနေကြသည်ဖြစ်၍ ယောဟန်သည် ခရစ်တော်ဖြစ်မည်လောဟု မိမိတို့၏ စိတ်နှလုံးတွင် အသီးသီး တွေးတောဆင်ခြင်လျက်ရှိကြ၏။-
- 16 ထိုအခါ ယောဟန်က ငါသည် သင်တို့ကို ရေဖြင့်ဆေးကြော၏။ ငါ့ထက်ကြီးမြတ်သောသူသည် ကြွလာလိမ့်မည်။ သူ၏ ခြေနင်းတော်ကြိုးကိုမျှဖြေခြင်းငှာ ငါမထိုက်တန်။ သူသည် သင်တို့ကို ဝိညာဉ်တော်မြတ်ဖြင့်လည်းကောင်း၊ မီးဖြင့် လည်းကောင်း ဆေးကြောတော်မူလိမ့်မည်။-
  Jesus will baptize believers with the Holy Spirit.
- 17 ကိုယ်တော်၏လက်တော်တွင် ဆန်ကောပါလျက် မိမိ၏တလင်းကို ရှင်းလင်းစေတော်မူပြီး ဂျုံစပါးကို ကျီ၌ စုသိမ်း တော်မူလိမ့်မည်။ အဖျင်းကိုမူကား သူသည် မငြိမ်းနိုင်သောမီးဖြင့် ရှို့တော်မူလိမ့်မည်ဟု ဟောပြောလေ၏။
- 18 ယောဟန်သည် အခြားသောအကြောင်းအရာ များစွာတို့ဖြင့် နှိုးဆော်သတိပေးလျက် ဧဝံဂေလိသတင်းကောင်းကို လူတို့အား ဟောပြောလေ၏။-
- 19 ထိုအချိန်၌ ဘုရင်ခံဟေရုဒ်သည် မိမိညီ၏ဇနီး ဟေရုဒ္ဒိယကို သိမ်းပိုက်ခြင်းနှင့် အခြားသောအပြစ်ဒုစရိုက်များကို ကျူးလွန် ခြင်းတို့ကြောင့် ယောဟန်၏ ပြစ်တင်ရှုတ်ချခြင်းကိုခံရလေ၏။-
- 20 သို့ရာတွင် သူသည် ယောဟန်အား ထောင်ထဲ၌ချုပ်နှောင်ခြင်းအားဖြင့် မိမိ၏အပြစ်မကောင်းမှုများကို ပို၍ပင် တိုးပွားစေခဲ့၏။
- 21 လူအပေါင်းတို့သည် ဆေးကြောခြင်းခံယူကြပြီးသောအခါ ယေဇူးသည်လည်း ဆေးကြောခြင်းကိုခံယူ၍ ဆုတောင်း တော်မူစဉ် ကောင်းကင်သည် ပွင့်လာပြီး၊-

- 22 ဝိညာဉ်တော်မြတ်သည် ချိုးငှက်သဏ္ဌာန်ဖြင့် ကိုယ်တော့်အပေါ်သို့ ဆင်းသက်တော်မူ၏။ ထိုအခါ ကောင်းကင်မှ အသံထွက်ပေါ်လာသည်ကား သင်သည် ငါနှစ်သက် မြတ်နိုးရာ ငါ၏ချစ်သားပေတည်းဟူ၍ဖြစ်လေ၏။
- 23 ယေဇူးသည် သူ၏တရားတော်ကို စတင်ဟောပြော သွန်သင်တော်မူသောအချိန်၌ အသက်သုံးဆယ်ရှိပြီဖြစ်၏။ လူတို့သည် ကိုယ်တော့်ကို ဂျိုးဇက်၏သားဟူ၍ လက်ခံထားကြ၏။ ဂျိုးဇက်သည် ဟေလိ၏သား၊-
- 24 ဟေလိသည် မာသတ်၏သား၊ မာသတ်သည် လေဝိ၏သား၊ လေဝိသည် မေလခိ၏သား၊ မေလခိသည် ဂျန်နိုင်၏သား၊ ဂျန်နိုင်သည် ဂျိုးဇက်၏သား၊-
- 25 ဂျိုးဇက်သည် မာတာသိယ၏သား၊ မာတာသိယသည် အာမော့၏သား၊ အာမော့သည် နာဟုမ်၏သား၊ နာဟုမ်သည် ဧစလိ၏သား၊ ဧစလိသည် နဂ္ဂဲ၏သား၊-
- 26 နဂ္ဂဲသည် မာသ၏သား၊ မာသသည် မာတာသိယ၏သား၊ မာတာသိယသည် ဆေမိန်၏သား၊ ဆေမိန်သည် ဂျိုဆက်၏သား၊ ဂျိုဆက်သည် ဂျိုဒ၏သား၊-
- 27 ဂျိုဒသည် ဂျိုအာနာ၏သား၊ ဂျိုအာနာသည် ရေဇာ၏သား၊ ရေဇာသည် ဇေရုဘာဘဲလ်၏သား၊ ဇေရုဘာဘဲလ်သည် ရှီအာတီအဲလ်၏သား၊ ရှီအာတီအဲလ်သည် နေရီ၏ သား၊-
- 28 နေရီသည် မေလခိ၏သား၊ မေလခိသည် အဒ္ဒီ၏သား၊ အဒ္ဒီသည် ကိုဆမ်၏သား၊ ကိုဆမ်သည် အဲလ်မဒမ်၏သား၊ အဲလ်မဒမ်သည် ဧရ၏သား၊-
