- 1 イエズス、キリストの僕たり且使徒たるシモン、ペトロ、我神にして救主に在すイエズス、キリストの義によりて、我等と等しき信仰を得たる人々に [ 書簡を贈る ]。
- 2 願はくは、神及び我主イエズス、キリストを熟知し奉る事によりて、恩寵と平安と汝等に加はらん事を。
- 3 キリストの神にて在せる大能は、其固有の光榮と能力とに由りて我等を召し給ひし神を知らしめて、総て生命と敬虔とに益する所のものを我等に賜ひしものなれば、
- 4 又其光榮と能力とに由りて最も大いなる尊き約束を賜ひしは、汝等をして依りて以て此世に於る情慾の腐敗を避けて、神の本性に與る者たらしめ給はん為なれば、
- 5 汝等も亦十分に注意して、汝等の信仰に徳を加へ、徳に學識、
- 6 學識に節制、節制に忍耐、忍耐に敬虔、
- 7 敬虔に兄弟的相愛、兄弟的相愛に愛 [ 徳 ] を加へよ。
- 8 蓋若是等の事汝等にありて増加せば、汝等をして我主イエズス、キリストを識り奉るに於て、働かざるもの果を結ばざるものたらしめじ。
- 9 是等の事なき人は盲にして遠く見る能はず、其既往の罪を潔められし事を忘れたる者なり。
- 10 然れば兄弟等よ、汝等の召されし事、選まれし事を、善業を以て愈固うするに努めよ、然て之を為すに於ては何時も躓く事なかるべし。故に汝等が現に此眞理を知り、且固く此上に立てるに拘はらず、我尚常に汝等をして是等の事を記憶せしめんとす。
- 11 其は我主にして救主に在すイエズス、キリストの永遠の國に入るの恵を豊に加へらるべければなり。
- 13 思ふに我が此幕屋に居る間は、此記憶を以て、汝等を励ますを至當なりとす。
- 14 我は我主イエズス、キリストの示し給ひし所に從ひて、我が此幕屋を下す事近きに在りと確信するが故に、
- 15 世を去りし後も汝等をして、屡是等の事を思出さしむる様勉めんとす。

- 18 我等彼と共に聖山に在りし時、此聲の天より來りしを親しく聞けり。
- 19 又尚固くせられし預言者の言我等に在り、汝等之を以て暗き所を照らす燈とし、夜明けて日の汝等の心の中に出づるまで之を省みるを善しとす。
- 20 先斯事を知るべし、即ち聖書の預言は総て一個人の解釈を以て解せらるるものに非ず、
- 21 其は預言は昔人意に由りて齎されずして、神の聖人等が聖霊に感動せられて語りしものなればなり。
