- 1 Und er rief mir mit lauter Stimme in die Ohren und sprach: Nahet herzu, ihr Heimsuchungen der Stadt! Ein jeder nehme seine Mordwaffe zur Hand!
- 2 Und siehe, da kamen sechs Männer des Weges vom obern Tor her, welches nach Norden schaut, und ein jeder hatte seine Zerstörungswaffe in der Hand; in ihrer Mitte aber war ein Mann, der trug ein leinenes Kleid und hatte ein Schreibzeug an der Seite; diese gingen hinein und stellten sich neben den ehernen Altar.
- 3 Da erhob sich die Herrlichkeit des Gottes Israels von dem Cherub, über welchem sie gewesen, hin zur Schwelle des Hauses und rief dem Manne zu, der das leinene Kleid trug und das Schreibzeug an der Seite hatte.
- 4 Und der HERR sprach zu ihm: Gehe mitten durch die Stadt, mitten durch Jerusalem und mache ein Zeichen auf die Stirn der Leute, die da seufzen und jammern über die Greuel, die darinnen verübt werden.
- 5 Zu den andern aber sprach er vor meinen Ohren: Gehet hinter ihm her durch die Stadt und erwürget; euer Auge soll nicht schonen, und ihr dürft kein Mitleid haben.
- 6 Tötet, vernichtet Greise, Jünglinge und Jungfrauen, Kinder und Frauen! Von denen aber, die das Zeichen tragen, rühret niemand an! Fanget aber bei meinem Heiligtum an! Da fingen sie bei den Ältesten an, die vor dem Tempel waren.
- 7 Und er sprach zu ihnen: Verunreiniget das Haus und füllet die Vorhöfe mit Erschlagenen! Ziehet aus! Da zogen sie aus und mordeten in der Stadt.
- 8 Als sie nun so mordeten und ich noch übrig war, fiel ich auf mein Angesicht, schrie und sprach: Ach, Herr, HERR, willst du in deinem Zorn, welchen du über Jerusalem ausgießest, alles umbringen, was von Israel noch übrig ist?
- 9 Da antwortete er mir: Die Sünde des Hauses Israel und Juda ist überaus groß! Das Land ist voll Blut und die Stadt voll Unrecht; denn sie sagen: »Der HERR hat das Land verlassen, und der HERR sieht es nicht!«
- 10 So soll auch mein Auge ihrer nicht schonen, und ich will kein Mitleid haben, sondern ihren Wandel auf ihren Kopf vergelten.
- 11 Und siehe, der Mann, welcher das leinene Kleid trug und das Schreibzeug an der Seite hatte, brachte eine Meldung und sprach: Ich habe getan, wie du mir befohlen hast!

Basic Hash Usage Explained
At getBible, we've established a robust system to keep our API synchronized with the Crosswire project's modules. Let me explain how this integration works in simple terms.
We source our Bible text directly from the Crosswire modules. To monitor any updates, we generate "hash values" for each chapter, book, and translation. These hash values serve as unique identifiers that change only when the underlying content changes, thereby ensuring a tight integration between getBible and the Crosswire modules.
Every month, an automated process runs for approximately three hours. During this window, we fetch the latest Bible text from the Crosswire modules. Subsequently, we compare the new hash values and the text with the previous ones. Any detected changes trigger updates to both our official getBible hash repository and the Bible API for all affected translations. This system has been operating seamlessly for several years.
Once the updates are complete, any application utilizing our Bible API should monitor the hash values at the chapter, book, or translation level. Spotting a change in these values indicates that they should update their respective systems.
Hash values can change due to various reasons, including textual corrections like adding omitted verses, rectifying spelling errors, or addressing any discrepancies flagged by the publishers maintaining the modules at Crosswire.
The Crosswire initiative, also known as the SWORD Project, is the "source of truth" for getBible. Any modifications in the Crosswire modules get reflected in our API within days, ensuring our users access the most precise and current Bible text. We pledge to uphold this standard as long as getBible exists and our build scripts remain operational.
