- 1 Ey mümin kardeşlerim, İsrail halkının kurtuluşa kavuşmasını canı gönülden istiyorum. Onlar için Allah’a dua ediyorum.
- 2 Allah’ı memnun etmek için canla başla çabaladıklarına bizzat şahidim. Fakat aslında Allah’ın ne istediğini bilmiyorlar.
- 3 Allah’ın insanı hangi yolla sâlih kıldığını anlamadılar. Kendi çabalarıyla Allah katında sâlih olmaya çalıştılar. Ve böylece Allah’ın takdirine göre sâlih kılınmayı reddettiler.
- 4 Hâlbuki Mesih şeriatın hükmüne son verdi. Bunu, kendisine iman eden herkes için yaptı; böylece Allah katında sâlih olma yolunu açtı.
- 5 Musa Peygamber şeriat yoluyla sâlih kılınma konusunda şöyle yazmıştır: “Şeriatın emirlerini yerine getiren, onlar sayesinde hayat bulacaktır.”
- 6 Öte yandan Tevrat, imanla sâlih sayılma konusunda şöyle der: “Kendi kendine, ‘Mesih’i yeryüzüne indirmek için kim semaya çıkacak?’ diye sorma.
- 7 Veya, ‘Mesih’i ölüler arasından çıkarmak için ölüler diyarına kim inecek?’ deme.”
- 8 Tevrat ne diyor? “Allah’ın kelâmı sana yakındır. Dudaklarında ve yüreğindedir.” İmanla ilgili duyurduğumuz haber Allah’ın kelâmıdır.
- 9 Ağzınla, “İsa Rab’dir” diye ikrar edersen ve Allah’ın O’nu ölümden dirilttiğine yürekten inanırsan kurtulacaksın.

- 10 Çünkü insan yürekten iman edince Allah katında sâlih sayılır; iman ettiğini ağzıyla ikrar edince ebedî kurtuluşa kavuşur.
- 11 Tevrat’ta şöyle yazılmıştır: “O’na iman edenler hüsrana uğramayacak.”
- 12 Çünkü Yahudi ile Yahudi olmayan arasında ayrım yoktur. Rab bütün insanların Efendisidir. O’na yakaran herkese cömertçe lütfeder.
- 13 Tevrat’ta yazılmış olduğu gibi, “Rab’be yakaran herkes kurtulacaktır.”

- 14 Fakat Rab’be iman etmezlerse elbette O’na yakaramazlar. Rab’bin kelâmını işitmezlerse elbette O’na iman edemezler. Eğer birileri gidip onlara vazetmezse Rab’bin kelâmını işitemezler.
- 15 Vaizler gönderilmezlerse elbette kelâmı vazedemezler. Tevrat’ta yazılmış olduğu gibi, “Kurtuluş müjdesini getirenlerin gelişi ne güzeldir!”
- 16 Fakat herkes kurtuluş müjdesini kabul etmedi. Yeşaya Peygamber’in söylemiş olduğu gibi: “Ya Rab, verdiğimiz habere kim inandı?”
- 17 Öyleyse insanlar ancak haberi işitirlerse iman ederler. İşitmeleri için de Mesih’le ilgili kelâmın duyurulması gerekir.
- 18 Size sorarım, İsrailoğulları kelâmı işitmediler mi? Elbette işittiler. Zebur’da yazıldığı gibi, “Sesleri bütün yeryüzüne, sözleri dünyanın her yanına ulaştı.”
- 19 Yine sorayım, İsrailoğulları kelâmı anlamadılar mı? Elbette anladılar. Allah önce Musa Peygamber’in ağzıyla şöyle der: “Ben sizi millet olmayanla kıskandıracağım. Sizi gücendirmek için anlayışsız bir halkı kullanacağım.”
- 20 Sonra da Yeşaya Peygamber Allah’ın sözlerini cesaretle bildirir: “Aramayanlar beni buldu, sormayanlara kendimi tanıttım.”
- 21 Fakat İsrail hakkında Allah şöyle der: “Bu halkla barışmak için bütün gün ellerimi uzatıp durdum. Fakat sözümü dinlemiyorlar, asidirler.”
