- 1 *Et l’Éternel parla à Moïse, disant :
- 2 Exécute la vengeance des fils d’Israël sur les Madianites ; ensuite tu seras recueilli vers tes peuples.
- 3 Et Moïse parla au peuple, disant : Équipez d’entre vous des hommes pour l’armée, afin qu’ils marchent contre Madian, pour exécuter la vengeance de l’Éternel sur Madian.
- 4 Vous enverrez à l’armée 1 000 [hommes] par tribu, de toutes les tribus d’Israël.
- 5 Et on détacha d’entre les milliers d’Israël 1 000 [hommes] par tribu, 12 000 [hommes] équipés en guerre ;
- 6 et Moïse les envoya à l’armée, 1 000 par tribu, à la guerre, eux et Phinées, fils d’Éléazar, le sacrificateur ; et il avait en sa main les ustensiles du lieu saint, savoir les trompettes au son éclatant.
- 7 Et ils firent la guerre contre Madian, comme l’Éternel l’avait commandé à Moïse, et ils tuèrent tous les mâles.
- 8 Et ils tuèrent les rois de Madian, outre ceux qui leur furent tués, Évi, et Rékem, et Tsur, et Hur, et Réba, cinq rois de Madian ; et ils tuèrent par l’épée Balaam, fils de Béor.
- 9 Et les fils d’Israël emmenèrent captives les femmes de Madian et leurs petits enfants, et pillèrent tout leur bétail et tous leurs troupeaux et tout leur bien ;
- 10 et ils brûlèrent par le feu toutes les villes de leurs habitations, et tous leurs campements ;
- 11 et ils emportèrent tout le butin et tout ce qu’ils avaient pris, en hommes et en bêtes ;
- 12 et ils amenèrent les captifs, et ce qu’ils avaient pris, et le butin, à Moïse et à Éléazar, le sacrificateur, et à l’assemblée des fils d’Israël, au camp, dans les plaines de Moab, qui sont auprès du Jourdain de Jéricho.
- 13 Et Moïse et Éléazar, le sacrificateur, et tous les princes de l’assemblée, sortirent à leur rencontre, hors du camp.
- 14 Et Moïse se mit en colère contre les commandants de l’armée, les chefs de milliers et les chefs de centaines, qui revenaient du service de la guerre.
- 15 Et Moïse leur dit : Avez-vous laissé en vie toutes les femmes ?
- 16 Voici, ce sont elles qui, à la parole de Balaam, ont donné occasion aux fils d’Israël de commettre une infidélité contre l’Éternel, dans l’affaire de Péor, et il y eut une plaie sur l’assemblée de l’Éternel.
- 17 Et maintenant, tuez tous les mâles parmi les enfants, et tuez toute femme qui a connu un homme, en couchant avec lui ;
- 18 et vous laisserez en vie, pour vous, tous les enfants, les jeunes filles qui n’ont pas eu compagnie d’homme.
- 19 Et vous, demeurez hors du camp, sept jours, quiconque aura tué un homme, et quiconque aura touché quelqu’un de tué ; vous vous purifierez le troisième jour et le septième jour, vous et vos captifs.
- 20 Et vous purifierez tout vêtement, et tout objet [fait] de peau, et tout ouvrage en poil de chèvres, et tout ustensile de bois.
- 21 Et Éléazar, le sacrificateur, dit aux hommes de l’armée, qui étaient allés à la guerre : C’est ici le statut de la loi que l’Éternel a commandée à Moïse :
- 22 L’or, et l’argent, l’airain, le fer, l’étain, et le plomb,
- 23 tout ce qui peut supporter le feu, vous le ferez passer par le feu, et ce sera pur ; seulement, on le purifiera avec l’eau de séparation ; et tout ce qui ne peut pas supporter le feu, vous le ferez passer par l’eau.
- 24 Et vous laverez vos vêtements le septième jour, et vous serez purs ; et, après cela, vous entrerez dans le camp.
- 25 Et l’Éternel parla à Moïse, disant :
- 26 Relève la somme de ce qui a été pris et mené captif, en hommes et en bêtes, toi et Éléazar, le sacrificateur, et les chefs des pères de l’assemblée ;
- 27 et partage le butin par moitié entre ceux qui ont pris part à la guerre, qui sont allés à l’armée, et toute l’assemblée.
- 28 Et tu lèveras pour l’Éternel un tribut sur les hommes de guerre qui sont allés à l’armée, un sur 500, tant des hommes que du gros bétail, et des ânes, et du menu bétail ;
- 29 vous le prendrez de leur moitié, et tu le donneras à Éléazar, le sacrificateur, comme offrande élevée à l’Éternel.
- 30 Et de la moitié qui revient aux fils d’Israël, tu prendras une part sur 50, des hommes, du gros bétail, des ânes, et du menu bétail, de toutes les bêtes, et tu les donneras aux Lévites, qui vaquent au service du tabernacle de l’Éternel.
- 31 Et Moïse et Éléazar, le sacrificateur, firent comme l’Éternel l’avait commandé à Moïse.
- 32 Et ce qui fut pris, le reste du pillage dont le peuple de l’armée s’était emparé, était de 675 000 [têtes de] menu bétail,
- 33 72 000 [têtes de] gros bétail,
- 34 61 000 ânes,
- 35 et les personnes , les femmes qui n’avaient pas eu compagnie d’homme, en tout, 32 000 âmes.
- 36 Et la moitié, la part de ceux qui étaient allés à l’armée, fut, en nombre, de 337 500 [têtes de] menu bétail,
- 37 – et le tribut pour l’Éternel, du menu bétail, fut de 675 ;
- 38 – et 36 000 [têtes de] gros bétail, dont le tribut pour l’Éternel fut de 72 ;
- 39 et 30 500 ânes, dont le tribut pour l’Éternel fut de 61 ;
- 40 et 16 000 personnes , dont le tribut pour l’Éternel fut de 32 âmes.
- 41 Et Moïse donna le tribut de l’offrande élevée de l’Éternel à Éléazar, le sacrificateur, comme l’Éternel l’avait commandé à Moïse.
- 42 Et de la moitié qui revenait aux fils d’Israël, que Moïse avait séparée [de celle] des hommes qui avaient été à la guerre
- 43 (or la moitié qui était à l’assemblée fut de 337 500 [têtes de] menu bétail,
- 44 36 000 [têtes de] gros bétail,
- 45 30 500 ânes,
- 46 et 16 000 personnes ),…
- 47 de cette moitié qui était aux fils d’Israël, Moïse prit une part sur 50, tant des hommes que du bétail, et les donna aux Lévites, qui vaquent au service du tabernacle de l’Éternel, comme l’Éternel l’avait commandé à Moïse.
- 48 Et ceux qui étaient préposés sur les milliers de l’armée, les chefs de milliers et les chefs de centaines, s’approchèrent de Moïse ;
- 49 et ils dirent à Moïse : Tes serviteurs ont relevé la somme des hommes de guerre qui sont sous notre main, et il ne manque pas un seul homme d’entre nous.
- 50 Et nous présentons une offrande à l’Éternel, chacun ce qu’il a trouvé, des objets d’or, des bracelets pour les bras, et des bracelets pour les mains, des anneaux, des pendants d’oreilles, et des colliers, afin de faire propitiation pour nos âmes devant l’Éternel.
- 51 Et Moïse et Éléazar, le sacrificateur, prirent d’eux cet or, tous les objets ouvragés.
- 52 Et tout l’or de l’offrande élevée, qu’ils avaient offert à l’Éternel, fut de 16 750 sicles, de la part des chefs de milliers et des chefs de centaines ;
- 53 (les hommes de l’armée avaient pillé chacun pour soi).
- 54 Et Moïse et Éléazar, le sacrificateur, prirent l’or des chefs de milliers et des chefs de centaines, et l’apportèrent à la tente d’assignation, comme mémorial pour les fils d’Israël, devant l’Éternel.

Basic Hash Usage Explained
At getBible, we've established a robust system to keep our API synchronized with the Crosswire project's modules. Let me explain how this integration works in simple terms.
We source our Bible text directly from the Crosswire modules. To monitor any updates, we generate "hash values" for each chapter, book, and translation. These hash values serve as unique identifiers that change only when the underlying content changes, thereby ensuring a tight integration between getBible and the Crosswire modules.
Every month, an automated process runs for approximately three hours. During this window, we fetch the latest Bible text from the Crosswire modules. Subsequently, we compare the new hash values and the text with the previous ones. Any detected changes trigger updates to both our official getBible hash repository and the Bible API for all affected translations. This system has been operating seamlessly for several years.
Once the updates are complete, any application utilizing our Bible API should monitor the hash values at the chapter, book, or translation level. Spotting a change in these values indicates that they should update their respective systems.
Hash values can change due to various reasons, including textual corrections like adding omitted verses, rectifying spelling errors, or addressing any discrepancies flagged by the publishers maintaining the modules at Crosswire.
The Crosswire initiative, also known as the SWORD Project, is the "source of truth" for getBible. Any modifications in the Crosswire modules get reflected in our API within days, ensuring our users access the most precise and current Bible text. We pledge to uphold this standard as long as getBible exists and our build scripts remain operational.
