- 1 Og HERREN talede til Moses og sagde:
- 2 »Skaf Israeliterne Hævn over Midjaniterne; saa skal du samles til din Slægt!«
- 3 Da talte Moses til Folket og sagde: »Udrust Mænd af eders Midte til Kamp, for at de kan falde over Midjan og fuldbyrde HERRENS Hævn paa Midjan;
- 4 1000 Mand af hver af Israels Stammer skal I sende i Kamp!«
- 5 Af Israels Tusinder udtoges da 1000 af hver Stamme, i alt 12 000 Mand, rustede til Kamp.
- 6 Og Moses sendte dem i Kamp, 1000 af hver Stamme, og sammen med dem Pinehas, Præsten Eleazars Søn, der medbragte de hellige Redskaber og Alarmtrompeterne.
- 7 De drog saa ud i Kamp mod Midjaniterne, som HERREN havde paalagt Moses, og dræbte alle af Mandkøn;
- 8 og foruden de andre, der blev slaaet ihjel, dræbte de ogsaa Midjans Konger, Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur og Reba, Midjans fem Konger; ogsaa Bileam, Beors Søn, dræbte de med Sværdet.
- 9 Og Israeliterne bortførte Midjaniternes Kvinder og Børn som Krigsfanger, og alt deres Kvæg, alle deres Hjorde og alt deres Gods tog de med som Bytte;
- 10 og alle deres Byer paa de beboede Steder og alle deres Teltlejre stak de Ild paa.
- 11 Og alt det røvede og hele Byttet, baade Mennesker og Dyr, tog de med sig,
- 12 og de bragte Fangerne, Byttet og det røvede til Moses og Præsten Eleazar og Israeliternes Menighed i Lejren paa Moabs Sletter ved Jordan over for Jeriko.
- 13 Men Moses, Præsten Eleazar og alle Menighedens Øverste gik dem i Møde uden for Lejren,
- 14 og Moses blev vred paa Hærens Førere, Tusindførerne og Hundredførerne, som kom tilbage fra Krigstoget.
- 15 Og Moses sagde til dem: »Har I ladet alle Kvinder i Live?
- 16 Det var jo dem, der efter Bileams Raad blev Aarsag til, at Israeliterne var troløse mod HERREN i den Sag med Peor, saa at Plagen ramte HERRENS Menighed.
- 17 Dræb derfor alle Drengebørn og alle Kvinder, der har kendt Mand og haft Samleje med Mænd;

- 19 Men selv skal I lejre eder uden for Lejren i syv Dage, enhver, som har dræbt nogen, og enhver, som har rørt ved en dræbt, og rense eder paa den tredje og den syvende Dag, baade I selv og eders Krigsfanger.
- 20 Og enhver Klædning, enhver Læderting, alt, hvad der er lavet af Gedehaar, og alle Træredskaber skal I rense!«
- 21 Og Præsten Eleazar sagde til Krigerne, der havde været med i Kampen: »Dette er det Lovbud, HERREN har givet Moses:
- 22 Kun Guld, Sølv, Kobber, Jern, Tin og Bly,
- 23 alt, hvad der kan taale Ild, skal I lade gaa gennem Ild, saa bliver det rent; dog maa det renses med Renselsesvand. Men alt, hvad der ikke kan taale Ild, skal I lade gaa gennem Vand.
- 24 Og eders klæder skal I tvætte paa den syvende Dag, saa bliver I rene og kan gaa ind i Lejren.«
- 25 Og HERREN talede til Moses og sagde:
- 26 »Sammen med Præsten Eleazar og Overhovederne for Menighedens Fædrenehuse skal du opgøre det samlede Bytte, der er taget, baade Mennesker og Dyr.
- 27 Derefter skal du dele Byttet i to lige store Dele mellem dem, der har taget Del i Krigen og været i Kamp, og hele den øvrige Menighed.
- 28 Derpaa skal du udtage en Afgift til HERREN fra Krigerne, der har været i Kamp, et Stykke af hver fem Hundrede, baade af Mennesker, Hornkvæg, Æsler og Smaakvæg;
- 29 det skal du tage af den Halvdel, som tilfalder dem, og give Præsten Eleazar det som Offerydelse til HERREN.
- 30 Men af den Halvdel, der tilfalder de andre Israeliter, skal du tage et Stykke af hver halvtredsindstyve, baade af Mennesker, Hornkvæg, Æsler og Smaakvæg, alt Kvæget, og give det til Leviterne, som tager Vare paa, hvad der er at varetage ved HERRENS Bolig!«
- 31 Da gjorde Moses og Præsten Eleazar, som HERREN havde paalagt Moses.
- 32 Og det, de havde taget, det tiloversblevne af Byttet, som Krigsfolket havde gjort, udgjorde 675 000 Stykker Smaakvæg,
- 33 72 000 Stykker Hornkvæg,
- 34 61 000 Æsler
- 35 og 32 000 Mennesker, Kvinder, der ikke havde haft Samleje med Mænd.
- 36 Den Halvdel, der tilfaldt dem, der havde været i Kamp, udgjorde altsaa et Tal af 337 500 Stykker Smaakvæg,
- 37 hvoraf Afgiften til HERREN udgjorde 675 Stykker Smaakvæg,
- 38 36 000 Stykker Hornkvæg, hvoraf 72 i Afgift til HERREN,
- 39 30 500 Æsler, hvoraf til i Afgift til HERREN,
- 40 og 16 000 Mennesker, hvoraf 32 i Afgift til HERREN.
- 41 Og Moses overgav Afgiften, HERRENS Offerydelse, til Præsten Eleazar, som HERREN havde paalagt Moses.
- 42 Og af den Halvdel, som tilfaldt de andre Israeliter, og som Moses havde taget som deres del fra de Mænd, der havde været i Kamp —
- 43 denne Menighedens Halvdel udgjorde 337 500 Stykker Smaakvæg,
- 44 36 000 Stykker Hornkvæg,
- 45 30 500 Æsler
- 46 og 16 000 Mennesker —
- 47 af den Halvdel, som tilfaldt de andre Israeliter, udtog Moses et Stykke for hver halvtredsindstyve, baade af Mennesker og Kvæg, og gav dem til Leviterne, som tog Vare paa, hvad der var at varetage ved HERRENS Bolig, som HERREN havde paalagt Moses.
- 48 Da traadte Førerne for Hærens Afdelinger, Tusindførerne og Hundredførerne, hen til Moses
- 49 og sagde til ham: »Dine Trælle har holdt Mandtal over de Krigere, der stod under os; og der manglede ikke en eneste af os;
- 50 derfor frembærer nu enhver af os som Offergave til HERREN, hvad han har taget af Guldsmykker, Armbaand, Spange, Fingerringe, Ørenringe og Halssmykker, for at skaffe os Soning for HERRENS Aasyn.«
- 51 Moses og Præsten Eleazar modtog Guldet af dem, alskens med Kunst virkede Smykker;
- 52 og alt Offerydelsesguldet, som de ydede HERREN, udgjorde 16 750 Sekel, hvilket Tusindførerne og Hundredførerne bragte som Gave.
- 53 Krigerne havde taget Bytte hver for sig.
- 54 Saa modtog Moses og Præsten Eleazar Guldet af Tusindførerne og Hundredførerne og bragte det ind i Aabenbaringsteltet, for at det skulde bringe Israeliterne i Minde for HERRENS Aasyn.

Danish translation of the Old Testament authorized in 1931 by the Danish King, with the New Testment being the authorized Danish version from 1907.
The NT is based on an entirely new OCR-scanning of an edition with Latin typographic (not Fraktur). The NT has subsequently been thoroughly proof-read and hand-corrected, and footnotes
as well as tables of contents for each chapter have been added.
The OT is based on an OCR-scan from the late 1980s, scanned from a typographically deficient
edition from 1933. OCR-scanning done and proof-read by a Danish pioneering couple with a heart
for media-missions. It was placed on the Internet by Søren Horn in the early 1990s, from
where it was picked up by Projekt Runeberg at Linköping University. Ulrik Sandborg-Petersen picked
up the text in the mid-2000's, and has since then hand-corrected literally thousands of OCR-mistakes
and paragraphing issues.
Both the OT and the NT retain the original orthography.

Basic Hash Usage Explained
At getBible, we've established a robust system to keep our API synchronized with the Crosswire project's modules. Let me explain how this integration works in simple terms.
We source our Bible text directly from the Crosswire modules. To monitor any updates, we generate "hash values" for each chapter, book, and translation. These hash values serve as unique identifiers that change only when the underlying content changes, thereby ensuring a tight integration between getBible and the Crosswire modules.
Every month, an automated process runs for approximately three hours. During this window, we fetch the latest Bible text from the Crosswire modules. Subsequently, we compare the new hash values and the text with the previous ones. Any detected changes trigger updates to both our official getBible hash repository and the Bible API for all affected translations. This system has been operating seamlessly for several years.
Once the updates are complete, any application utilizing our Bible API should monitor the hash values at the chapter, book, or translation level. Spotting a change in these values indicates that they should update their respective systems.
Hash values can change due to various reasons, including textual corrections like adding omitted verses, rectifying spelling errors, or addressing any discrepancies flagged by the publishers maintaining the modules at Crosswire.
The Crosswire initiative, also known as the SWORD Project, is the "source of truth" for getBible. Any modifications in the Crosswire modules get reflected in our API within days, ensuring our users access the most precise and current Bible text.
