- 1 POI il Signore parlò a Mosè, dicendo:
- 2 Fa’ la vendetta de’ figliuoli d’Israele sopra i Madianiti; e poi tu sarai raccolto a’ tuoi popoli.
- 3 E Mosè parlò al popolo, dicendo: Mettasi in ordine un certo numero di voi, per andare alla guerra, e vadano contro a Madian, per far la vendetta del Signore sopra Madian.
- 4 Mandate a questa guerra mille uomini per ciascuna di tutte le tribù d’Israele.
- 5 Così furono dati mille uomini per ciascuna tribù, d’infra le migliaia d’Israele, che furono in tutto dodicimila uomini in ordine per la guerra.
- 6 E Mosè mandò alla guerra que’ mille uomini di ciascuna tribù, e con loro Finees, figliuolo del Sacerdote Eleazaro, il quale avea in mano gli arredi del Santuario, e le trombe da sonare.
- 7 Ed essi fecero guerra contro a Madian, siccome il Signore avea comandato a Mosè, e uccisero tutti i maschi.
- 8 Uccisero ancora fra’ loro uccisi i re di Madian, Evi, e Rechem, e Sur, e Hur, e Reba, i cinque re di Madian; uccisero eziando con la spada Balaam, figliuolo di Beor.
- 9 E i figliuoli d’Israele ne menarono prigioni le donne di Madian, e i lor piccoli fanciulli; e predarono tutto il lor grosso e minuto bestiame, e tutte le lor facoltà.
- 10 E bruciarono col fuoco tutte le lor città, nelle loro stanze; e tutte le lor castella.
- 11 E presero tutte le spoglie e tutta la preda, così degli uomini, come degli animali.
- 12 E addussero a Mosè e al Sacerdote Eleazaro, e alla raunanza de’ figliuoli d’Israele, i prigioni e la preda, e le spoglie, nel campo, nelle campagne di Moab, che sono lungo il Giordano di Gerico.
- 13 E Mosè, e il Sacerdote Eleazaro e tutti i Capi della raunanza, uscirono loro incontro fuor del campo.
- 14 E Mosè si adirò gravemente contro a’ condottieri dell’esercito, Capi di migliaia, e Capi di centinaia, che ritornavano da quella guerra.
- 15 E Mosè disse loro: Avete voi scampata la vita a tutte le femmine?
- 16 Ecco, esse furono quelle che, secondo la parola di Balaam, servirono a porgere a’ figliuoli d’Israele cagione di misfatto contro al Signore, nel fatto di Peor; onde fu quella piaga nella raunanza del Signore.
- 17 Ora dunque uccidete tutti i maschi d’infra i piccoli fanciulli; uccidete parimente ogni femmina che ha conosciuto carnalmente uomo.
- 18 E serbatevi in vita tutte le femmine che son di piccola età, le quali non hanno conosciuto carnalmente uomo.
- 19 E voi, campeggiate per sette giorni fuor del campo. Ogni persona, così d’infra voi, come d’infra i vostri prigioni, che avrà ucciso alcuno, e avrà tocco alcuno ucciso, purifichisi al terzo, e al settimo giorno.
- 20 Purificate parimente ogni vestimento, e ogni arnese fatto di pelle, e ogni lavorio fatto di pel di capra, e ogni vasello di legno.
- 21 E il Sacerdote Eleazaro disse alla gente di guerra, ch’era andata a quella guerra: Questo è lo statuto di legge che il Signore ha comandato a Mosè.
- 22 Ma fate passar per lo fuoco l’oro, l’argento, il rame, il ferro, lo stagno, e il piombo,
- 23 e in somma tutto ciò che può portare il fuoco; e così sarà netto; ma pure ancora sia purificato con l’acqua di purificazione; e tutto ciò che non può portare il fuoco, fatelo passar per l’acqua.
- 24 E lavate i vostri vestimenti al settimo giorno, e sarete netti, e poi potrete entrar nel campo.
- 25 Il Signore parlò ancora a Mosè, dicendo:
- 26 Tu, e il Sacerdote Eleazaro, e i Capi delle nazioni paterne della raunanza, levate la somma delle persone che sono state menate prigioni, e del bestiame ch’è stato predato;
- 27 e partisci la preda per la metà, fra la gente di guerra ch’è andata a questa guerra, e tutta la raunanza.
- 28 E leva, della gente di guerra, ch’è andata a questa guerra, un tributo per lo Signore, una testa di cinquecento, degli uomini, de’ buoi, degli asini, e delle pecore.
- 29 Prendete quel tributo della metà che appartiene loro; e dallo al Sacerdote Eleazaro per un’offerta al Signore.
- 30 E, della metà appartenente ai figliuoli d’Israele, prendi uno, tratto di cinquanta, degli uomini, de’ buoi, degli asini, delle pecore, e in somma di tutto il bestiame; e da’ quelli a’ Leviti che fanno la fazione del Tabernacolo del Signore.
- 31 E Mosè e il Sacerdote Eleazaro fecero come il Signore avea comandato a Mosè.
- 32 Or la preda, cioè il rimasto della preda, che la gente ch’era andata a quella guerra avea fatta, fu di seicensettanta cinquemila pecore,
- 33 e di settantaduemila buoi,
- 34 e di settantunmila asini.
- 35 E quanto all’anime umane, le femmine che non aveano carnalmente conosciuto uomo, furono in tutto trentaduemila anime.
- 36 E la metà, cioè la parte di coloro ch’erano andati a quella guerra, fu di trecentrenta settemila cinquecento pecore,
- 37 delle quali il tributo per lo Signore fu di seicensettanta cinque pecore;
- 38 e di trentaseimila buoi, de’ quali il tributo per lo Signore fu di settantadue buoi;
- 39 e di trentamila cinquecento asini, de’ quali il tributo per lo Signore fu di sessantun asini;
- 40 e di sedicimila anime umane; delle quali il tributo per lo Signore fu di trentadue anime.
- 41 E Mosè diede il tributo, levato per offerta al Signore, al Sacerdote Eleazaro, come il Signore gli avea comandato.
- 42 E della metà appartenente a’ figliuoli d’Israele, secondo che Mosè avea partito per metà, fra loro, e quelli ch’erano andati a quella guerra;
- 43 or la metà appartenente alla raunanza fu di trecentrenta settemila cinquecento pecore,
- 44 e di trentaseimila buoi,
- 45 e di trentamila cinquecento asini,
- 46 e di sedicimila anime umane;
- 47 di questa metà, appartenente a’ figliuoli d’Israele, Mosè prese uno, tratto di cinquanta, così degli uomini, come degli animali; e diede quelli a’ Leviti che fanno la fazione del Tabernacolo del Signore; come il Signore avea comandato a Mosè.
- 48 E i condottieri delle migliaia di quell’esercito, Capi di migliaia, e Capi di centinaia, si accostarono a Mosè;
- 49 e gli dissero: I tuoi servitori hanno fatta la rassegna della gente di guerra ch’era sotto la nostra condotta, e non ne manca pure uno.
- 50 Perciò noi offeriamo per offerta al Signore, ciascuno ciò che gli è caduto in mano, di vasellamenti d’oro, di cerchielli da gamba, di maniglie, d’anella, e di fermagli, per pagare il riscatto delle nostre persone, davanti al Signore.
- 51 E Mosè e il Sacerdote Eleazaro presero da loro tutto quell’oro, tutto lavorato in vasellamenti, e monili.
- 52 E tutto l’oro dell’offerta, che fu offerto al Signore da’ Capi delle migliaia, e da’ Capi delle centinaia, fu di peso di sedicimila settecencinquanta sicli.
- 53 Ma la gente di guerra guardò per sè ciò che ciascuno avea predato.
- 54 E Mosè e il Sacerdote Eleazaro presero quell’oro da’ Capi delle migliaia, e delle centinaia, e lo portarono nel Tabernacolo della convenenza, per ricordanza per li figliuoli d’Israele, nel cospetto del Signore.

Basic Hash Usage Explained
At getBible, we've established a robust system to keep our API synchronized with the Crosswire project's modules. Let me explain how this integration works in simple terms.
We source our Bible text directly from the Crosswire modules. To monitor any updates, we generate "hash values" for each chapter, book, and translation. These hash values serve as unique identifiers that change only when the underlying content changes, thereby ensuring a tight integration between getBible and the Crosswire modules.
Every month, an automated process runs for approximately three hours. During this window, we fetch the latest Bible text from the Crosswire modules. Subsequently, we compare the new hash values and the text with the previous ones. Any detected changes trigger updates to both our official getBible hash repository and the Bible API for all affected translations. This system has been operating seamlessly for several years.
Once the updates are complete, any application utilizing our Bible API should monitor the hash values at the chapter, book, or translation level. Spotting a change in these values indicates that they should update their respective systems.
Hash values can change due to various reasons, including textual corrections like adding omitted verses, rectifying spelling errors, or addressing any discrepancies flagged by the publishers maintaining the modules at Crosswire.
The Crosswire initiative, also known as the SWORD Project, is the "source of truth" for getBible. Any modifications in the Crosswire modules get reflected in our API within days, ensuring our users access the most precise and current Bible text. We pledge to uphold this standard as long as getBible exists and our build scripts remain operational.
