- 1 然て七の器を持てる七の天使の一來りて我に謂ひけるは、來れ、我汝に示すに、多くの水の上に坐せる大淫婦の宣告を以てせん。
- 2 地上の諸國王之と姦淫を行ひ、地に住める人々其淫亂の酒に酔ひたりき、と。
- 3 斯て我氣を奪はれ、彼天使に荒野に携へられて見たるに、緋色の獣に乗りたる一人の婦あり、獣は渾身冒涜の名を以て覆はれ、七の頭と十の角あり。
- 4 婦は緋色、紫色の服を着し、金、寳石、眞珠を以て身を飾り、手には憎むべきものと其淫亂の穢とに満てる金の器あり。
- 5 其額には書記されたる名あり、曰く「奥義、大いなるバビロネ、地上の淫婦等と憎むべきこととの母」と。
- 6 此婦を見るに、諸聖人の血及びイエズスの殉教者等の血に酔へる者なれば、我之を見て大いに驚けり。
- 7 天使我に謂ひけるは、何の故に驚くぞ、我此婦の奥義と、七の頭、十の角ありて之を乗せたる獣の奥義とを汝に語らん。
- 8 汝の見し獣は曾て有りしも今在らず、後には底なき淵より上りて亡に至らん。地上に住みて世の開闢より以後生命の名簿に名を記されざる人々は、曾て有りしも今は在らずして後に顕るべき、彼獣を見て驚き怪しまん。
- 9 是に於てか知識と穎敏とを要す。七の頭は婦の坐せる七の山なり、又七人の國王なり。
- 10 五人は既に倒れて一人は存し、尚一人は未來らず、來りたらん時は暫し留るべし。
- 11 曾て有りしも今は在らざる獣は其第八番にして七人より出でて亡に至るなり。
- 12 又汝の見し十の角は十人の國王にして、彼等は未國を得ざれども、獣の後に一時王の如き権威を受くべく、
- 13 彼等は同一の計略を為し、己が能力と権威とを獣に付さん。
- 14 彼等は羔と戰ふべく、而して羔は彼等に勝ち給ふべし。彼は諸主の主、諸王の王に在して、之と共に居る人々は、召されし者、選まれし者、忠實なる者なればなり、と。
- 15 天使又我に謂ひけるは、淫婦の坐せる處に汝が見し水は、是諸國、諸民、諸語なり。
- 16 又獣に於て汝が見し十の角は、遂に彼淫婦を憎み、之を悩まし且裸ならしめ、其肉を喰ひ、火を以て彼を焼盡すべし。
- 17 蓋神彼等に御旨を行ふ事と、同一の計略を為して神の御言悉く成就するまで、己が國を獣に付す事とを志さしめ給ひしなり。
- 18 又汝が見し婦は、地上の國王を司る大都會なり、と。
