- 1 En word niet hun vijand in plaats van hun vriend. Verguizing en schande erft de lasteraar, Evenals de slechtaard met dubbele tong.
- 2 Laat u niet door uw hartstocht beheersen, Want hij graast uw kracht af als een stier;
- 3 Hij vreet uw blad, rukt af uw vruchten, En laat u achter als een dorre boom.
- 4 Want onbeheerstheid brengt verderf over wie er aan toegeeft, En verschaft leedvermaak aan den vijand;
- 5 Maar zachte woorden maken vele vrienden, En vriendelijke lippen worden gaarne gegroet.
- 6 Leef met vele mensen op goede voet, Maar uw vertrouweling zij slechts één uit duizend.
- 7 Wint ge een vriend, doe het door beproeving, En stel niet te gauw in hem uw vertrouwen.
- 8 Want soms is men vriend, zolang het uitkomt, Maar blijft het niet bij tegenspoed;
- 9 Menig vriend verkeert dan in vijand, En legt de twist tot uw schande uit.
- 10 Vriend is hij, als hij uw tafel deelt; Maar men vindt hem niet in tijd van nood.
- 11 Gaat het u goed, hij is het met u eens; Maar gaat het u slecht, hij gaat van u heen.
- 12 Als het ongeluk u treft, keert hij zich van u af, En houdt zich voor u verborgen.
- 13 Houd u dus ver van uw vijand, Maar wees voorzichtig met uw vrienden.
- 14 Een trouwe vriend is een sterke burcht; Wie er een vindt, ontdekt een vermogen.
- 15 Voor een trouwen vriend bestaat geen prijs, Zijn waarde is niet te betalen.
- 16 Een trouwe vriend is een buidel des levens; Wie God vreest, zal hem bekomen.
- 17 Wie den Heer vreest, is trouw in de vriendschap; Want zoals men zelf is, zo is ook de vriend.
- 18 Derde reeks. De wijsheid en onze maatschappelijke plichten. Inleiding. Aansporing tot beoefening der wijsheid. Mijn zoon, streef van uw jeugd af naar tucht, En tot in ouderdom zult ge wijsheid vinden.
- 19 Nader tot haar als een ploeger en maaier, En wacht dan op haar rijke oogst; Want in haar dienst behoeft ge maar weinig te zwoegen, Om weldra haar vruchten te eten.
- 20 Hinderlijk is ze slechts voor den dwaas, En de onverstandige kan haar niet dragen;
- 21 Zij drukt op hem als een zware steen, Hij zal niet aarzelen, haar af te werpen.
- 22 Want de tucht is, zoals het woord het zegt; Daarom is ze slechts weinigen welkom.
- 23 Mijn zoon, luister, en aanvaard mijn les; Versmaad mijn raadgeving niet.
- 24 Steek uw voeten in haar boeien, En uw hals in haar gareel;
- 25 Zet uw schouder er onder en draag ze, En laat haar banden u niet verdrieten.
- 26 Nader tot haar met heel uw ziel, En houd haar wegen met al uw kracht.
- 27 Vraag en vors; zoek en ge zult vinden; En hebt ge haar vast, laat ze niet weer los.
- 28 Want tenslotte vindt ge er rust, En wordt zij voor u een genot.
- 29 Haar net wordt u dan een sterke burcht, En haar boeien een kleed van brokaat;
- 30 Haar juk wordt een sieraad van goud, Haar banden purperen snoeren.
- 31 Dan trekt zij u een feestkleed aan, En siert u met een heerlijke kroon.
- 32 Mijn zoon, als ge er lust in hebt, wordt ge wijs, En verstandig, als ge uw hart er op zet;
- 33 Als ge komt om te luisteren En uw oor open zet, wordt ge wijs.
- 35 Luister dus graag naar iedere onderrichting, En laat geen wijze spreuk u ontgaan.
- 36 Zie wie er wijs is, en ga dien bezoeken; Uw voet verslijte zijn drempel.
- 37 Uw gedachte blijve bij de vreze des Allerhoogsten, En uw peinzen bij zijn geboden; Dan zal Hij uw hart verstandig maken En u wijsheid geven, zoveel ge begeert.

Basic Hash Usage Explained
At getBible, we've established a robust system to keep our API synchronized with the Crosswire project's modules. Let me explain how this integration works in simple terms.
We source our Bible text directly from the Crosswire modules. To monitor any updates, we generate "hash values" for each chapter, book, and translation. These hash values serve as unique identifiers that change only when the underlying content changes, thereby ensuring a tight integration between getBible and the Crosswire modules.
Every month, an automated process runs for approximately three hours. During this window, we fetch the latest Bible text from the Crosswire modules. Subsequently, we compare the new hash values and the text with the previous ones. Any detected changes trigger updates to both our official getBible hash repository and the Bible API for all affected translations. This system has been operating seamlessly for several years.
Once the updates are complete, any application utilizing our Bible API should monitor the hash values at the chapter, book, or translation level. Spotting a change in these values indicates that they should update their respective systems.
Hash values can change due to various reasons, including textual corrections like adding omitted verses, rectifying spelling errors, or addressing any discrepancies flagged by the publishers maintaining the modules at Crosswire.
The Crosswire initiative, also known as the SWORD Project, is the "source of truth" for getBible. Any modifications in the Crosswire modules get reflected in our API within days, ensuring our users access the most precise and current Bible text. We pledge to uphold this standard as long as getBible exists and our build scripts remain operational.
