Sirach 14
- 1 Zalig is de man die niet feilt met zijn mond, en niet doorprikkeld wordt met de menigte der zonden.
- 2 Zalig is hij, die zijn ziel niet verdoemt, en die niet vervalt van zijn hoop, die hij op de Here heeft.
- 3 De rijkdom voegt geen karig mens wel, en waartoe dient geld een nijdig mens?
- 4 Wie vergadert onttrekkende van zijn ziel, die vergadert voor anderen, en vreemden zullen van zijn goederen lekker leven.
- 5 Die tegen zichzelf kwaad is, wie zal hij goed zijn? zelfs zal hij zich niet verheugen in zijn goederen.
- 6 Daar is geen bozer mens dan die zichzelf wangunstig is, en dat is een vergelding zijner boosheid.
- 7 Indien hij wel doet, hij doet het ongaarne, en op het laatst zal hij zijn boosheid doen blijken.
- 8 Het is een boos mens, die met het oog afgunstig is, die het aangezicht afwendt, en veracht de zielen.
- 9 Het oog van de gierigaard wordt met geen deel verzadigd, en de ongerechtigheid van de boze doet zijn ziel uitdrogen.
- 10 Een boos oog is nijdig over brood, en lijdt gebrek aan zijn tafel.
- 11 Mijn kind, doe uzelf goed naar dat gij vermoogt, en breng de Here offeranden toe, gelijk behoort.
- 12 Gedenk dat de dood niet zal vertoeven, en het verbond des grafs is u niet getoond.
- 13 Doe uw vriend goed, eer gij sterft, en strek naar uw vermogen uw hand uit en geef hem.
- 14 Onttrek uzelf niet van de goede dag, en laat het deel der goede begeerte u niet voorbijgaan.
- 15 Zult gij niet uw arbeid een ander moeten nalaten? en uw moeite tot verdeling des lots?
- 16 Geef en neem, en heilig uw ziel.
- 17 Want men behoeft in het graf geen spijs te zoeken.
- 18 Alle vlees veroudert gelijk een kleed, want het verbond van de eeuw aan is dit: Gij zult de dood sterven.
- 19 Gelijk een groenend blad op een dichte boom; enige werpt hij af, en andere doet hij uitspruiten; zo is het met het geslacht van het vlees en van het bloed, het ene sterft en het andere wordt geboren.
- 20 Alle werk, dat verrotting onderworpen is, bezwijkt, en die het gewrocht heeft zal met hetzelve ook weggaan.
- 21 Zalig is de man die met wijsheid betracht hetgeen eerlijk is, en die met zijn verstand van heilige dingen spreekt.
- 22 Die zijn wegen in zijn hart bezint, die zal ook in haar verborgenheden verstandig worden; ga uit achter haar gelijk een naspeurder, en loer op haar wegen.
- 23 Wie door haar vensters heenziet, en bij haar deuren toehoort,
- 24 Wie nabij haar huis herberg neemt en in haar muren zijn paal slaat, zijn tabernakel naar haar hand stelt,
- 25 Zal herberg hebben in een herberg vol goeds, en zal zijn kinderen stellen onder haar bescherming, en onder haar takken zal hij overnachten.
- 26 Hij zal van haar beschermd worden voor de hitte, en in haar heerlijkheid zal hij herberg hebben.

Basic Hash Usage Explained
At getBible, we've established a robust system to keep our API synchronized with the Crosswire project's modules. Let me explain how this integration works in simple terms.
We source our Bible text directly from the Crosswire modules. To monitor any updates, we generate "hash values" for each chapter, book, and translation. These hash values serve as unique identifiers that change only when the underlying content changes, thereby ensuring a tight integration between getBible and the Crosswire modules.
Every month, an automated process runs for approximately three hours. During this window, we fetch the latest Bible text from the Crosswire modules. Subsequently, we compare the new hash values and the text with the previous ones. Any detected changes trigger updates to both our official getBible hash repository and the Bible API for all affected translations. This system has been operating seamlessly for several years.
Once the updates are complete, any application utilizing our Bible API should monitor the hash values at the chapter, book, or translation level. Spotting a change in these values indicates that they should update their respective systems.
Hash values can change due to various reasons, including textual corrections like adding omitted verses, rectifying spelling errors, or addressing any discrepancies flagged by the publishers maintaining the modules at Crosswire.
The Crosswire initiative, also known as the SWORD Project, is the "source of truth" for getBible. Any modifications in the Crosswire modules get reflected in our API within days, ensuring our users access the most precise and current Bible text. We pledge to uphold this standard as long as getBible exists and our build scripts remain operational.
