Sirach 51
- 1 Een Gebed van Jezus, de zoon van Sirach; IK zal u belijden Here, Koning, en ik zal u prijzen, o God, die mijn zaligmaker zijt.
- 2 Ik belijd uw naam, dat gij mij een beschermer en helper geweest zijt, en hebt mijn lichaam uit de verderfenis verlost;
- 3 En van de strik der lasterende tong; van de lippen dergenen die leugens oefenen; en tegen degenen die zich tegen mij stelden, zijt gij mij een helper geweest.
- 4 Gij hebt mij verlost naar de menigte der barmhartigheid van uw naam, uit de tanden die bereid waren om mij te verslinden;
- 5 Uit de hand dergenen die mijn ziel zochten; uit de vele verdrukkingen, die ik gehad heb;
- 6 Van de verstikking des vuurs rondom; uit het midden des vuurs, dat ik niet verbrand ben;
- 7 Uit de diepte des buiks, en van de onreine tong, van het leugenachtige woord, door de lastering bij de koning, en van een onrechtvaardige tong.
- 8 Mijn ziel was nabij de dood gekomen; en mijn leven was nabij het diepste graf.
- 9 Zij hadden mij van alle zijden omzet, en daar was geen helper; ik zag om naar bijstand der mensen, en daar was geen.
- 10 Toen gedacht ik aan uw barmhartigheid, Here, en aan uw werken van alle tijden.
- 11 Dat gij degenen die lijdzaam verbeiden uithelpt, en hen verlost uit de hand der vijanden.
- 12 En heb van de aarde mijn ootmoedig gebed opgeheven, en gesmeekt om verlossing van de dood.
- 13 Ik riep de Here de vader mijns Heren aan, dat hij mij niet wilde verlaten in de dag der verdrukking, ten tijde als ik geen hulp had tegen de hovaardigen.
- 14 Ik zal uw naam prijzen zonder ophouden, en u lofzingen met dankzegging, en mijn smeking is verhoord geweest.
- 15 Want gij hebt ons verlost uit het verderf, en mij getrokken uit de boze tijd.
- 16 Daarom zal ik u belijden, Here, en zal u prijzen, en zal uw naam danken.
- 17 Als ik nog jong was, eer dat ik dwaalde, heb ik de wijsheid openbaar gezocht door mijn gebed.
- 18 Voor de tempel heb ik om haar gebeden, en tot het uiterste toe zal ik haar naarstig zoeken.
- 19 Mijn hart is in haar verheugd geweest, gelijk over een druif die na het bloeisel rijp wordt.
- 20 Mijn voet is recht heengegaan; van mijn jeugd af heb ik haar nagespeurd.
- 21 Ik hem mijn oor een weinig geneigd, en heb haar aangenomen;
- 22 En heb voor mijzelf veel onderwijzing gevonden, ik ben door haar toegenomen.
- 23 Degene die mij wijsheid geeft, die zal ik macht toeschrijven.
- 24 Want ik heb gedacht om haar in het werk te stellen, en te beijveren het goede, en zal geenszins te schande worden. [51:25] Mijn ziel heeft om haar zeer gestreden, en in mij honger verwekt hebbende, heb ik haar naarstig doorzocht.
- 25 [51:26] Ik heb mijn handen uitgerekt tot de hoogte, en mijn onwetendheden van haar bemerkt. [51:27] Ik heb mijn ziel naar haar gericht, en in reiniging heb ik haar gevonden.
- 26 [51:28] Ik heb van het begin af tot haar een hart gekregen, daarom zal ik niet verlaten worden. [51:29] Mijn hart is ontroerd geworden om haar te zoeken, daarom heb ik een goede bezitting verkregen.
- 27 [51:30] De Here heeft mij een tong gegeven tot mijn loon, en met deze zal ik hem prijzen. [51:31] Gemaakt tot mij, gij die niet onderwezen zijt, en overnacht in het huis der onderwijzing. [51:32] Wat vertraagt gij? of wat zegt gij hiertoe? zo toch uw zielen zeer dorsten.
- 28 [51:33] Ik heb mijn mond geopend en heb gesproken, koopt u wijsheid zonder geld. [51:34] Legt uw hals onder het juk, en uw ziel neme onderwijzing aan, zij is nabij om te vinden.
- 29 [51:35] Ziet met uw ogen dat ik weinig moeite gehad heb, en heb voor mijzelf veel rust gevonden. [51:36] Weest deelachtig de onderwijzing met een groot getal gelds, en veel goud zult gij in haar bezitten.
- 30 [51:37] Uw ziel verheuge zich over de barmhartigheid des Heren, en schaamt u niet hem te prijzen. [51:38] Werkt uw werk voor de tijd, en hij zal u te zijner tijd loon geven.

Basic Hash Usage Explained
At getBible, we've established a robust system to keep our API synchronized with the Crosswire project's modules. Let me explain how this integration works in simple terms.
We source our Bible text directly from the Crosswire modules. To monitor any updates, we generate "hash values" for each chapter, book, and translation. These hash values serve as unique identifiers that change only when the underlying content changes, thereby ensuring a tight integration between getBible and the Crosswire modules.
Every month, an automated process runs for approximately three hours. During this window, we fetch the latest Bible text from the Crosswire modules. Subsequently, we compare the new hash values and the text with the previous ones. Any detected changes trigger updates to both our official getBible hash repository and the Bible API for all affected translations. This system has been operating seamlessly for several years.
Once the updates are complete, any application utilizing our Bible API should monitor the hash values at the chapter, book, or translation level. Spotting a change in these values indicates that they should update their respective systems.
Hash values can change due to various reasons, including textual corrections like adding omitted verses, rectifying spelling errors, or addressing any discrepancies flagged by the publishers maintaining the modules at Crosswire.
The Crosswire initiative, also known as the SWORD Project, is the "source of truth" for getBible. Any modifications in the Crosswire modules get reflected in our API within days, ensuring our users access the most precise and current Bible text. We pledge to uphold this standard as long as getBible exists and our build scripts remain operational.
