Sirach 28
- 1 Wie zichzelf wreekt, die zal van de Here wraak vinden, en hij zal zijn zonden zeker bewaren.
- 2 Vergeef uw naaste het onrecht dat hij u gedaan heeft, en wanneer gij dan zult gebeden hebben, zullen u uw zonden vergeven worden.
- 3 De ene mens houdt tegen de andere mens toorn, en bij de Here zoekt hij genezing.
- 4 En hij heeft geen barmhartigheid over een mens die hem gelijk is, en bidt om zijn zonden.
- 5 Hij, vlees zijnde, behoudt vijandschap en wie zal zijn zonden verzoenen?
- 6 Gedenk aan uw uiterste, en houd op vijandschap te oefenen.
- 7 Pleeg geen vijandschap tegen uw naaste tot zijn verderf en dood, maar blijf in de geboden.
- 8 Gedenk aan de geboden, en oefen geen vijandschap tegen de naaste, en aan het verbond des Allerhoogsten, en overzie zijn onwetendheid.
- 9 Onthoud u van strijd, en gij zult de zonden verminderen, want een toornig mens ontsteekt de strijd.
- 10 Een zondaar ontroert vrienden, en onder degenen die vrede hebben, werpt hij laster in.
- 11 Hoe meer hout men in het vuur legt, hoe meer het brandt; hoe meer het gekijf wordt gesterkt, hoe meer het vuur toeneemt; hoe sterker de mens is, hoe sterker zijn gramschap is; en hoe rijker de mens is, hoe meer hij zijn toorn verheft.
- 12 Een haastige twist ontsteekt het vuur, en een haastend gevecht vergiet bloed.
- 13 Indien gij in een vonk blaast, zo zal zij branden, maar indien gij daarop spuwt, zo zal zij uitgaan; en dit komt beide uit uw mond.
- 14 Vervloek een oorblazer, en een tweetongig mens want zij hebben velen verdorven, die in vrede leefden.
- 15 De dubbele tong heeft velen bewogen, en heeft hen van het ene volk in het andere verzet,
- 16 En heeft vaste steden vernield, en huizen der groten omgekeerd.
- 17 De dubbele tong heeft mannelijke vrouwen verdreven, en heeft haar beroofd van haar arbeid.
- 18 Wie naar haar luistert, die zal geen rust vinden, noch met stilheid wonen.
- 19 De slag van de gesel maakt striemen, maar de slag der tong vermorzelt het gebeente.
- 20 Velen zijn gevallen door de scherpte des zwaards, doch niet zo velen als er gevallen zijn door de tong.
- 21 Zalig is bij die voor haar beschermd is, die door haar gramschap niet is gegaan;
- 22 Die haar juk niet getrokken heeft, en met haar banden niet is gebonden geweest.
- 23 Want haar juk is een ijzeren juk, en haar banden zijn metalen banden.
- 24 Haar dood is een boze dood, en het graf is nuttiger dan zij.
- 25 Zij zal over de godvrezenden gans geen macht hebben, en door haar vlam zullen zij niet verbranden. [28:26] Die de Here verlaten, zullen in haar vallen en in hen zal zij worden ontstoken, en niet uitgeblust worden;
- 26 [28:27] Zij zal over hen gezonden worden als een leeuw, en gelijk een luipaard zal zij ze verwoesten. [28:28] Zie toe, omtuin hetgeen gij bezit met doornen, en maak voor uw mond deuren en grendelen. [28:29] Bind uw goud en uw zilver tezamen, en maak voor uw woorden een weegschaal, en voor uw mond een deur en grendel. [28:30] Neemt acht dat gij niet enigszins daarin struikelt, opdat gij niet valt in tegenwoordigheid desgenen, die op u loert.

Basic Hash Usage Explained
At getBible, we've established a robust system to keep our API synchronized with the Crosswire project's modules. Let me explain how this integration works in simple terms.
We source our Bible text directly from the Crosswire modules. To monitor any updates, we generate "hash values" for each chapter, book, and translation. These hash values serve as unique identifiers that change only when the underlying content changes, thereby ensuring a tight integration between getBible and the Crosswire modules.
Every month, an automated process runs for approximately three hours. During this window, we fetch the latest Bible text from the Crosswire modules. Subsequently, we compare the new hash values and the text with the previous ones. Any detected changes trigger updates to both our official getBible hash repository and the Bible API for all affected translations. This system has been operating seamlessly for several years.
Once the updates are complete, any application utilizing our Bible API should monitor the hash values at the chapter, book, or translation level. Spotting a change in these values indicates that they should update their respective systems.
Hash values can change due to various reasons, including textual corrections like adding omitted verses, rectifying spelling errors, or addressing any discrepancies flagged by the publishers maintaining the modules at Crosswire.
The Crosswire initiative, also known as the SWORD Project, is the "source of truth" for getBible. Any modifications in the Crosswire modules get reflected in our API within days, ensuring our users access the most precise and current Bible text. We pledge to uphold this standard as long as getBible exists and our build scripts remain operational.
