Acts 17
- 1 Pavlus ve Silas, Amfipolis ve Apollonya şehirlerinden geçerek Selânik’e geldiler. Burada Yahudilerin bir havrası vardı.
- 2 Pavlus, her zamanki gibi, ibadet için onlara katıldı;
- 3 üst üste üç Şabat Günü onlarla Tevrat üzerinde tartıştı, Tevrat’ı tefsir etti. Mesih’in acı çekmesi ve ölümden dirilmesi gerektiğini gösterdi. ‘Sizlere duyurmakta olduğum bu İsa, Mesih’tir’ dedi.
- 4 Yahudilerin bazıları, Allah’a ibadet eden bir sürü Grek ve ileri gelen birçok kadın da ikna oldular ve Pavlus’la Silas’a katıldılar.
- 5 Fakat inanmayan Yahudiler bunu kıskandı. Pazaryerinden bazı kötü insanları topladılar. Bir güruh oluşturup şehirde kargaşalık çıkarttılar. Yason’un evine saldırdılar. Çünkü Pavlus ile Silas orada kalıyordu. Onları halkın önüne çıkarıp yargılamak istiyorlardı.
- 6 Onları bulamayınca Yason’la bazı müminleri şehrin ileri gelenlerinin önüne sürüklediler. “Bu insanlar dünyayı altüst ettiler, şimdi de buraya geldiler.
- 7 Yason onları evine aldı. Onların hepsi imparatorun emirlerine karşı geliyorlar. İsa adında başka bir kral olduğunu söylüyorlar” diye bağırdılar.
- 8 Kalabalık ve şehir yöneticileri bunu duyunca telaşlandılar.
- 9 Sonunda Yason ve diğerlerini kefaletle serbest bıraktılar.
- 10 Müminler hemen o gece Pavlus’la Silas’ı Veriya şehrine gönderdiler. Pavlus ile Silas oraya varınca havraya gittiler.
- 11 Veriya’daki Yahudiler Selânik’tekilerden daha açık fikirliydi. Allah’ın kelâmını büyük ilgiyle karşıladılar. Her gün Tevrat’ı okuyorlardı. İşittiklerinin doğru olup olmadığını araştırıyorlardı.
- 12 Sonuçta birçok Yahudi ve çok sayıda itibarlı Grek kadın ve erkek iman etti.
- 13 Pavlus Veriya’da da Allah’ın kelâmını vazetti. Selanikli Yahudiler bunu duyunca oraya da geldiler ve halkı Pavlus’a karşı kışkırtıp galeyana getirdiler.
- 14 Müminler Pavlus’u hemen deniz kıyısına yolladılar. Silas ile Timoteos ise Veriya’da kaldılar.
- 15 Pavlus’a refakat edenler onu Atina’ya kadar götürdüler, onu orada bıraktılar. Pavlus onlara talimatlar verdi; Silas’la Timoteos’u bir an önce yanına göndermelerini istedi. Onlar da Veriya’ya geri döndüler.
- 16 Pavlus, Silas’la Timoteos’u Atina’da bekledi. Bu arada şehrin putlarla dolu olduğunu gördü; yüreği burkuldu.
- 17 Bu sebeple havrada Yahudilerle ve Allah’a ibadet eden yabancılarla görüşüp tartıştı. Ayrıca her gün pazaryerine gidip karşılaştığı insanlarla konuştu.
- 18 Bazı Epikürcü ve Stoacı filozoflar onunla atışmaya başladılar. Bazıları, “Bu lafebesi ne demek istiyor?” diye sordu. Bazıları da, “Galiba yabancı ilâhların tellallığını yapıyor” dedi. Çünkü Pavlus, İsa’yla ve dirilişle ilgili haberi duyuruyordu.
- 19 Onlar Pavlus’u alıp Atina Meclisi’nin toplandığı Ares Tepesi’ne götürdüler. Ona, “Vazettiğin bu yeni konular nedir, açıklar mısın?” diye sordular.
- 20 “Kulağımıza yabancı gelen şeylerden bahsediyorsun. Bunların anlamını öğrenmek istiyoruz” dediler.
- 21 Bütün Atinalılar ve şehirde yaşayan yabancılar, yeni fikirleri dinleyip tartışmayı severlerdi. Bütün vakitlerini bu şekilde geçirirlerdi.
- 22 Pavlus, Ares Tepesi Meclisi’nin huzuruna çıktı; şunları söyledi: “Ey Atinalılar, her bakımdan çok dindar olduğunuzu görüyorum.
- 23 Şehrinizi dolaştım. İbadet ettiğiniz şeyleri incelerken üzerinde, ‘Meçhul İlâha’ diye yazılmış bir sunağa bile rastladım. Bilmeden ibadet ettiğiniz bu ilâhı ben size tanıtayım.
- 24 “O, dünyayı ve içindeki her şeyi yaratan Allah’tır. O, yeryüzünün ve göğün Efendisi’dir. İnsan eliyle yapılmış mabetlerde oturmaz.
- 25 O’nun bir şey yapmak için insanın yardımına ihtiyacı yoktur. Herkese hayat, nefes ve her şeyi veren O’dur.
- 26 Allah, tek insandan bütün halkları yarattı ve onları yeryüzünün her yanına yerleştirdi. Halkların sürelerini ve yerleşecekleri bölgelerin sınırlarını önceden tespit etti.
- 27 Bunu, insanlar kendisini arasın ve el yordamıyla bulabilsin diye yaptı. Aslında Allah hiçbirimizden uzak değildir.
- 28 ‘O’nda yaşarız, O’nda hareket ederiz, O’nda varız.’ Bazı şairleriniz de şöyle der: ‘Biz de O’nun soyundanız.’
- 29 “Allah’ın soyundan olduğumuz için ilâhî cevheri altın, gümüş, ya da taştan bir nesneymiş gibi düşünmemeliyiz. O, insan sanatı ve hayal gücüyle yaratılmış bir şey değildir.
- 30 Allah, geçmiş çağlardaki cahilliklere göz yumdu; fakat şimdi her yerde insanlara tövbe etmelerini emrediyor.

- 31 Çünkü dünyaya hükmedeceği günü tespit etti. Bunu tayin ettiği Kişi vasıtasıyla adaletle yapacaktır. Bu Kişi’yi ölümden diriltmekle bunu herkese ispatlamıştır.”
- 32 Ölülerin dirilişinden söz edildiğini duyan meclis üyeleri alay etti. Bazıları da, “Seni bu konuda bir daha dinlemek isteriz” dedi.
- 33 Bunun üzerine Pavlus meclisten ayrıldı.
- 34 Birkaç kişi ona katıldı ve iman etti. Bunların arasında meclis üyesi Dionisios, Damaris adında bir kadın ve birkaç kişi daha vardı.
